Boom Box Plum Dunk

The overall concept is to manipulate sneakers to appear as musical instruments, specifically instruments used in the hip hop genre. I chose to use a Nike Dunk entitled “Plum,” because of its purple and maroon colors and hairy suede texture.

The shoe's stitching and organization make for an excellent object to take apart and warp into different shapes. The image that I ultimately attempted to turn the Nike Dunk into is a classic boombox. Boomboxes were used in the beginning stages of hip hop and acted as the original portable MP3 player. I placed a picture of a boombox in the art-board to then place pieces of the shoes over and create a layer of sneaker parts on top of the boombox.
